Is it possible to 'train' your voice to a different genre or something?

Singing is one of my favourite hobbies and I'm not sure if my voice suits pop/r'n'b type songs, I actually don't know what genre my voice suits because I don't know how to tell, so if anyone can help me with that, that would be very useful. But I want to know if there is a way to 'train' your voice to change the way it sounds, anyone know anything about that? :D
