What colour shall I paint my room?

I have black furniture in my bedroom, and I've recently bought a lot of the 'shabby chic' type things to put in my room (to go on my dressing table and walls and a lightshade). At the moment my walls are white, but as most of the things are cream I need to paint it a different colour (not cream). Any ideas? I'm 18 and I love the vintage/chic type look that is on trend right now. I have a big window and one wall is basically a big mirror so I don't need to worry about lighting or it being dark.. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated :)
