Help with translating to Spanish please?

I need to translate "As a child, I was not lonely" . So far I have "a pesar de que estoy un solo ni�a, no era solitaria de pequena" , but i'm not sure if I should use that form of era or a form of fue. can anyone have an answer by 7 pm eastern time?
