I'm attending fashion camp at a predominant fashion school in New York, What should I wear?

I'm from Middle America and I'm getting very concerned about what to wear at a camp composed of primarily chic New Yorkers. I will be staying in New Jersey and I am really hoping to make many close friendships while there, but I'm afraid of being the "jersey girl" who has to take a bus and walk a mile to get to classes. I plan being extra chic with my style to make up for that but I'm still concerned about what I should be wearing. What does one wear with the most fashionable of their peers? Its a 3 week program, and I can afford to add considerably to my wardrobe, but nothing ridiculous- no shoes costing more than 75$, dresses more than 50$, etc- I also just got blunt bangs so I'm trying to avoid childlike styles at risk of looking like a 5 year old who never grew up.
