Information on the contraceptive injection, please?

im 15 and came on my period today, i also had the contraceptive injection for the first time today. will this stop my period now? if so, how soon? And can i have sex without a condom straight after or should i continue using them for a fue weeks in and then stop? any other info i need? thanks, :) x
